As the type of door suggests, traditional side hung doors are still available, and the choice over the years has grown much more than the original 'timber only' option. Side hung doors are now available in the same materials (Steel, GRP and Timber) and finishes/colours as the Up & Over style garage doors. With certain designs, it is even possible to get 1/3 2/3 opening of your garage door, if you prefer.
Sometimes homeowners will find that their only option is a side hung door, usually because of obstacle in the way, like a gas meter.
Costs of the traditional side hung doors are usually more than the up & over type of garage door, even though you are not getting any spring assistance, which is always something to bear in mind when considering a side hung door.
